Passenger
Some of the most exciting works of 20th-century architecture were born to sail the seas: luxury liners, cruise ships, ferries, and other passenger vessels that represented milestones in modernist style. Through extensive illustrations, including many previously unpublished photographs, this lavish volume examines their evolving design, These beautiful ships-powerful statements of commercial pride and even utopian visions-had a lasting influence on architecture ashore, and their sweeping forms and daring details will intrigue all design-conscious readers.

Yoshio Kanamori is a very well-known modern Japanese woodblock print artist.
In this 1966 work he depicts a traditional Japanese scene -- mountains, ocean, trees and butterflies -- with a mid-century modern sensibility and color scheme.
Each year the Japanese Woodblock Print Association selects important artists to issue works for their annual calendar. The calendars are created in limited editions with genuine hand-pulled prints affixed to backing paper showing the dates for each month.
This image was used for the April 1966 calendar. It will be shipped in original condition (still affixed to the calendar sheet). It's up to you how to matte and frame it. You can cover the calendar with the matte and show the print alone. Or you can display both the image and the calendar.
Kanamori originally created the image as an "ex-libris" bookplate. But it stands alone as gorgeous example of 20th century Japanese art.
